How institutions are laying the foundations for responsible AI in education
Rarely has a technological innovation become so quickly and deeply embedded in the everyday conversation of our society. From coffee tables to water coolers, from politicians to taxi drivers – developments are happening fast and affecting everything. It is no surprise that people from all walks of life are thinking about the implementation of generative AI. Education is no exception: in fact, recent figures indicate that more than half of students have used generative AI at some point. Concerns about privacy, accessibility, bias and hallucinations are well-founded and have already led to a ban on the use of AI tools at several institutions. However, a new initiative shows the potential for every student and education professional to enjoy the benefits of generative AI in a safe and transparent way.
“Die veiligheid is cruciaal. We moeten als onderwijsinstelling de publieke waarden bewaken.”
Bas Smit, Projectleider Generatieve AI bij Npuls
