Key Position Scheme: applications from 30 institutions approved

June 26, 2025

Good news: 30 educational institutions have been approved for the Key Position scheme. This means that these institutions will receive financial support and extra guidance in the transformation process that each institution is facing. Key teams are an important key to success when it comes to this transformation.

A total of 46 applications were submitted. All of these have been assessed. The number of applications approved is equal to the number of applications that could be approved in this round. The assessment looked at the quality of the application based on four criteria. The assessment was carried out by an independent assessment committee. The application was approved for nine vocational colleges, 14 universities of applied sciences and seven universities. Sixteen institutions did not have their applications approved.

Content and follow-up arrangements

The Key Position scheme aims to facilitate the key team in promoting the institution's own strategic goals, in line with Npuls' commitments. Together, we can tackle the questions and challenges that the key teams and institutions face (or will face). During the term of the scheme (1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026), the key team will work with resources and additional guidance on formulated ambitions to strengthen the position of the key team in a sustainable manner. A total of 80,000 euros per institution could be applied for.

The intention is to continue offering a similar incentive scheme in the future and to grant all institutions this one-off financial boost through multiple rounds.

What is a key team and what does it do?

Every public vocational college, university of applied sciences and university has an Npuls key team. The key teams form the bridge between their own institution and Npuls: they direct the interaction between the people from their own institution and the national programme organisation. The key team brings together various disciplines. These include people who play a key role in education policy, information management, ICT, education administration and Centres for Teaching & Learning. Together, they provide direction for the transformation task facing each institution.
