Btg Techniek en Gebouwde Omgeving launches portal with digital educational resources for vocational education and training schools
For the sectors within Technology and Built Environment (TGO), a portal has been developed on the initiative of the sector group (btg) TGO to make digital educational resources (open) available. The pilot runs until June, but the portal is already accessible to everyone.

The Technology and Built Environment BTG is the first BTG to participate in a pilot project organised by the MBO Council and Npuls to develop a portal with high-quality digital learning materials. Teachers, instructors and developers from MBO institutions and (training) companies within the technical sectors can easily search for, find and reuse learning materials in one central location.
Quickly providing suitable digital learning materials
The aim is to enable the sustainable sharing of digital learning materials, thereby contributing to a flexible, tailor-made education system. This will enable us to respond more quickly to social challenges such as climate adaptation, the circular economy and the energy transition. By involving relevant partners, such as development centres, private training providers, training companies, industry organisations, employee organisations and sector funds, we are jointly giving the pilot project a boost.
“One portal for all learning materials: this is how we can work together to make vocational education future-proof, flexible and tailor-made.” – André Pape - Alfa-college
Further development of the portal
The pilot will run until June 2025. Vocational education institutions are continuously expanding their range of open, semi-open and commercial learning materials. Talland College, Deltion, Alfa-college, ROC Gilde and ROC van Amsterdam are closely involved in the pilot, but other vocational colleges* are also making their learning materials available. If your institution also has relevant learning materials, please let project leader Nadine van Houten know via nadine.vanhouten@npuls.nl.
“By sharing knowledge and learning materials, we strengthen the craftsmanship of today and tomorrow. With our modular and flexible training courses for Construction & Infrastructure Supervisors and Technical Managers, we facilitate lifelong development. In the near future, AI will support us in keeping shared learning materials up to date and relevant, so that learning always remains dynamic.” – Edwin Steinz - Talland College
Scaling up within vocational education and beyond mbo
SURF is working on the functional requirements and a standard design for a portal with reusable components from services such as edusources. This will enable vocational education to scale up to the other eight industry groups (btgs) of the MBO Council in the future. This approach will also enable other partnerships to start working effectively with the portal in the future.
