Samenvatting
This webinar provides a basis for understanding the AI Act and its impact on educational institutions. Moderator Ella Put and speaker Menno Jehee discuss how the law focuses on product safety and responsible use of AI.
The AI Act, which will come into force at the end of July or beginning of August, contains approximately 110 articles and regulates both the development and use of AI, with a focus on risk management. Menno emphasises the complexity and costs that educational institutions may experience in complying with the law. High-risk AI applications, such as admission to education and test monitoring, receive special attention. Furthermore, although some AI systems are prohibited, there is still a great deal of uncertainty and further elaboration is needed.
The law aims for a future-proof approach and calls for close cooperation and compliance within the EU, without the need for national implementation. The webinar provides a basis for understanding the AI Act and its impact on educational institutions.
