How can we give learners real control over their own learning path and results? Within the eduwallet pilot, we are exploring how a personal digital identity and learning credentials (such as edubadges and micro-credentials) can contribute to flexible education without obstacles and a smooth transition into the workforce.

Npuls is exploring what a digital can mean for further and higher education and the eduwallet. With this pilot, we demonstrate what such a wallet could look like.

FAQ

Npuls is working together with institutions to explore what eduwallet means in practice. In the coming years, we will test prototypes and pilots, ensuring the sector is well prepared for the European rollout of the digital identity wallet in 2027.

Summer 2026	The pilot will end before the summer of 2026, after which we will draw up recommendations on the use of wallets in the education sector.

Institutions can contribute ideas and participate in the Npuls eduwallet project. Once every quarter, we organise a two-hour brainstorming session, which institutions can join either in person or online. During these sessions, we share and discuss the progress of the project and the pilots. Institutions can also participate by conducting a pilot with their own wallet use case in their own IT landscape.

The brainstorming sessions and pilots provide input for advice to the education sector:
- What are the consequences of this European innovation for existing (SURF) services (such as eduID, edubadges)?
- Where are new sector-wide (SURF) services needed and/or possible (such as having or not having your own eduwallet)?
- What do we leave to the government and/or market?
